The party boarded the train for home about four o'clock. The trip home was by no means dull. Differ ent members of the gathering enter tained the rest with anecdotes and the relation of humorous incidents. All expressed their delight over the afternoon's enjoyment. It was a very interesting and also highly education al trip, and while to those that view ed it for the first time it seemed nothing short of wonderful, it. still held unbounded interest for those who had seen it many times. Department of labor and the literature is now ready for distri bution through the Divison of Pub ic Works and Construction Develop ment of the Department. Twenty cities already are getting under way with their drives for home building and home owning. To supervise the formulation of these plans, Paul C. Murphy of Port land, Oregon, for two years working on "Own Your Own Home" work was brought to Washington. In con sultation with Department of Labor officials and several cf the leading :"ithoiities on building in the United States, Mr. Murphy has drafted the campaign manual, now available for such cities and individuals as arc in terested in promoting home owning. 'Ihe "Own Your Own Home" bur eau in the Division of Public Works and Construction Development will serve as an advisory board to the managements of these local cam paigns, where requested, and will ex tend the fullest cooperation to every city in the country which undertakes a campaign. Australian Grain Growers Used Poison Gas to Combat Deadly Enemy of Their Crops. The weevil Is a well-known curse to the grnin-growing farmer. He Is 0 member of h very large group, rejoic ing in the family name of curculion Idae. There are some other members which live' to spoil nuts, some which ravage apple orchards, while others make war upon clover and legumes generally. One vnriety is threatening the very existence of the cotton plan tations of the southern states, an other lives to innko difficult nt times Impossible Egyptian agriculture. The weevil's eggs are laid in iininnttre grains and the creature develops It self through the larva stage at their expense. Wherever grain is taken, the weevil goes along and so discovers new countries for Its habitation. Everywhere It Is at home, and grows wilh the growing grain. Australia has suffered, and its unsold grain accum ulated through the war years, during which the length of the voyage made it impossible to obtain transportation to Europe, was found to deteriorate through lis ravages. l?ut our fellow citizens on th other side of the world are notoriously hard to bent, and s"t to work vigorously to war against these restless grubs. A leaf was taken from the German book, and the use of poison gas was resorted to with apparently deadly effect. "The Only One For Me," She Says Mrs. U. It.
