Edgertou and the men of the road commission were ' at their wits end last night to se cure sacks with which to stop the break in the dike and after scour ing the town for hours could on ly secure a few hundred. Colon el O’Neil, of Fori Liscum, how ever, had had all the sacks at the post saved and stored in the event of an emergency and when informed of the need for sacks for the dike, he sent over 1,500 to Lieut. Edgertou and the night '■crew succeeded in repairing the break. The sudden change in the dir 'ection of the stream early yes terday morning caused much ap prehension to the officers of the commission and to superintend ent Giddings and a large crew were working all of yesterday and all through ttie night repair ing tile break and strengthening ( lie dike. No more trouble is feared as the men have tilled the sacks, re paired the break and strengthen ed the dike and are hack at the work of making I lie brush mal ’tresses to face the new govern ment dike.
