The I school has been in session over j three months. i M. M. Holman’s second month report shows no absence or tar diness. His first month’s report showed but two absent and no 1 tardiness. The attendance has been ex ceptionally good in Miss Kin tigh’s room of the town school. Of an enrollment of thirty-three, the average dailv attendance for Jauuary was thirty-two. A number of Haud county’s teachers lastjyear attended sum mer schools, iii this and neigh boring states. So far, we have yet to hear of one who was not more than amply paid for the time and money spent. Iu view of the fact that wages have been higher, and in many instances terms longer, the presumption is that more tea hers will utl<nd this year. Two mate institu tions of learning are offering strong courses of study for sum mer work, as are other schools of the state. There me many teachers m the county that should plan to attend some good summer school during the vaca tion months. Begin to make your arrangement now, teach ers. We have in the comity about half a dozen schools in whiih tardiness seems to be the pre vailing feature, One repoit shows that the children of or e fam lv were tardy every day they attended m the month, and each child lost six hours of time. In another report we find that a child that attended school eigh teen days was tardy twenty times and lost twenty hours of time.
