Lutz, president and secretary of the Michi gan Farmers' Mutual Firo Insurance Co. of St. Clair and Sanilac Counties, wero at Marlette Thursday adjusting a loss. Mr. Campbell, of Mt. Morris, was in Yale a portion of this week conferring with the officers ot the Yale Milling Co. with a view to taking an interest in the new mill. Rritton Clarke, of Port Huron, one of the best detectives in eastern Mich igan, will retire from that business. At North Hranch a Sunday night fire destroyed a block of frame stores, making a Joss of $12,000 covered by insurance. The VCTIT at Croswell are petition ing tho common council of that village to submit the question t' local option at the March election. Romeo has a half doswn candidates for postmaster, who have been kept in suspense for the past four weeks, no selection being made as yet. It has been decided that the next meeting of the Macomb and St. Clair counties Soldiers' and SailorV Reunion Association is to bo held at Richmond Sept. 2nd anil 3rd. (iiilbert E. Deceased was born in Ireland in li'JH, the year ot the lura war and the year in which Gowge Washington died Stephen ilarvey, father of the voting man who came down with small pox at Ulaek's Corners, took tho disease himself and died in three dnvs. His wife is recovering from a mild form of the disease anil the son also is getting letter. While Mrs. George White, of Lani'v, was driving across Hello River in liily township, the horse backed off the bridge, which was wit limit proper guards, and Mrs. White fell 12 feet to the ice, and her spine injured.
