Last Friday evening a very largo
number ot members of Advance Lodge,
No. 110, lOOF, assembled in their cozy
and comfortable quarters upstairs in
the Chamberlain block, the occasion
being election of oflicers for the next
term of six months. Hy the way there
was something elso that had a tenden
cy to draw "the boys" to the lodge
room and that was a feast of oysters
properly cooked.

Make Others Happy.
Members of the Young People's
Societies, the Sunday Schools and all
others interested are invited to unite
with the pupils of the school in gath
ering material that will tend to
brighten and lighten the hearts of
those less fortunate than ourselves in
the village this Christmas. Every
thing, clothing, provisions, books,
toys, money, etc , that you can and
will spare may be brought or sent to
the school building next week where
they will be placed in the recitation
room and carefully cared for by the
attributing committees l uursday.
lie liberal. There may be some in
our beautiful village that will not
know of the joys of Christmas tide
unless you add your mite to the fund.
Suggestions that will tend to aid in a
judicious distribution will bo thank
fully received.
Each Young People's Society in
town is invited to appoint a soliciting
committee or as many members as
they think best and an additional
committee of three to meet with the
School committee next Thursday af
ternoon to aid in the distribution of
presents.

mittee in the High room.
To assist a number of High School
pupils who are preparing toteacli.a
normal review class will bo organized
at the beginning of next term. All the
subjects required in a teacher's third
grade certificate will bo taken up.
1 lie class will meet Irom ls:M to W:x
and only those pupils whoso average
standing is above ninety will bo al
lowed to join.
A movement has been inaugurated
whereby the pupils may assist, 111 mak
ing others happy on Christmas. Tho
plan is to have pupils uud all others
that can, donate such things as they
see lit, to be distributed the day before
Christmas to those unfortunates who
would otherwise not know tho joys of
Christinas giving. Let us give liber
ally books, provisions, etc. The reci
tation room will ba used as a store
house next week.

next Friday afternoon: roll call, quo
tations from any president; Mr. And
reae, essay Mexico and Her People;
Mr. Stuart, Character Sketch of Tnos.

Speech; Mits ilydorn, recitation, se
lected; Miss Hebner, essay, Plant and
Animal Life in Australia; Mr. Losey,
essay, Thermometers; Miss Mae Evans,
Story of Evangeline; Mr. Uradshaw,
Current Events.
Last Friday afternoon was observed
in Miss Uaxter's room as "Mother's
Day". Written invitations were pre
viously sent to the mothers by the
pupils and quite a number of visitors
were present. An appropriate pro
gram was given beginning with tho
Hag salute after which the school
joined in singing "Our Flag." Then
followed recitations, songs and two re
production stories written by the pu
pils. Pert Holden acted as chairman,
Irving Palmer, chorister, and Ernest
Cooper, usher. The scholars all per
formed their parts very nicely.
