Mrs. Taylor went to Detroit Thursday morning to purchase more goods. Sir Knights and Lady Maccabees of Yale are to have a public installation of officers and oyster supper at Mi chaels' Hall, on the eveningof Jan. 12. It is expected that Gt. Com. Jioynton, and Lady Bailey, Gt. Lt. Com. and state lecturer for L. O. T. M. will be the installing olhcers and speakers of the evening. A good time is expected. At the first indication of diphtheria in the throat make the room close, then take a tin cup and pour into it an equal quantity of tar and turpentine, then hold cup over stove so as to till the room with fumes. The patient on inhaling the fumes, says the Scientific American, will cough out the mem branous mutter and diphtheria will passotf. The fumes of the tar and turpentine loosen the throat and thus afford the relief that has battled the skill of physicians. Major C. T. Picton is manager of the State Hotel, at Denison, Texas, which the traveling men say is one of the best hotels in that section. In speak ing of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Hemedy Major 1'icton says: "I have used it myself and in my family for several years, and take fdeasuro in saying that I consider it an infallible cure for diarrhoea and dysen tery. Harris, went to Port Huron Monday morning. Daniel Foley, of Mt. Salem, called on his Yale friends last Saturday. Ada Jaynes, of Arkona, Ont., is visit ing her sister, Mrs. Lara Middleton. W. II. Xewcomer spent Saturday and Sunday at his home in Memphis. James L. Coe. attorney, of Port Hu ron, spent Sunday with friends in Yale. Eva Wideman, of Stouffyillc, Ont., is visiting with her uncle, James Hisey, at present. W. V. Andreae returned Friday from a trip in the interests of the Yale Woolen Mills. Lute McKenzie, of Prescott, visited Mr. and Mrs. L. Butler and other friends in Yale this week. Xellie Jenks, who has spent the past week at E. R. Reecher's, returned to Port Huron Tuesday night. Will Y'uill and Lyman Owens were over from Croswell this week on a visit to friends and relatives. Reed Mericle, wife and daughter Pearl, of Detroit, are visiting relatives and friends in Yale and vicinity. Xellie Lundy left Monday night for Saginaw where she has secured a posi tion in the Western Union office. L. J. Leonhard, of Peck and Conrad Feiger, of Elliot passed through Yale Monday morning on thier way to Port Huron. Mrs. Thos. Holden and John Merrill started Thursday night for a short visit among Canada relatives and friends. James McXair and wife, of Lexing ton, yisited Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Men erey and other friends in Yale the past week. Will Iloskin returned to his home and friends in Yale Friday after pponding the past season sailing on the Great Lakes. Belle Macaulay. after visiting among friends in Yale for five weeks, returned to her home in Armada Fri day morning last. Mrs. J. A. Menzies and daughter Alison accompanied her as far as Port Huron.
