If the game can be ar ranged an exciting horse race will come off on the track at one o'clock, the contesting horses to be driven by Peter Hush and Will Campbell. You may look for a hot race and no one should miss the sport. Durine James Wallace's fifteen years business career in Yale he says he was never busier than at the pres ent time. Week before last he turned out eight sets of harness, last week Beven sets and now has orders tor six sets. It is impossible for him to get the work out fast enough to fill the orders. He has sent two sets of heavy harness to Turner, Arenac county. Mr. Wallace's work is widely known and it always gives perfect satisfaction. A dangerous looking 6torm, which threatened destruction, was visible in the north last Saturday evening at about eight o'clock and our citizens wondered if it would be a repetition of the cyclone that swept over Oak land county last year. Heads of fam ilies hied themselves to their homes and gathered around them their loved ones and anxiously awaited the com ing. Thirty minutes passed and so did the storm but instead ot leaving de struction of life and property in its wake it turned nut to be only a heavy wind and rain storm. The cloud of fire proved to be only a reflection of the setting sun, and those who seemed to be the most frightened said they knew there would be nothing of it. Nevertheless the cloud looked danger ous and many were relieved when it passed over. Mr. Isaac Horner, proprietor of the Furton House, Furton, W. Va., and one of the most widely known men in the state was cured of rheumatism after three years of suffering. It was certainly unfortunate that the date chosen for Miss Minne's song re cital in Central Hall was not a good one, unfortunate for Miss Minne her self, on account of the few in attend ance and unfortunate for those who did not hear her as ho is n beautiful singer and it would have done anyone good to haye listened to her wonderful voice. As there was so much going on this week it seemed impossible lo get out a crowd, but we hope to persuade Miss Minne to givo us another date when she will be greeted with a full house. Her selections on Wednesday evening were extremely pretty and appropriate. Her voice has great scope and power. Her accompanist, Frof. Cawthorne, is the noted organist in the First Congregational church in Fort Huron and also a fine pianist. Miss Minne was also ably assisted by Miss Foste, the elocutionist, whose selec tions were charming and received a hearty encore. Seven years ago Henry Gushman, aged 74 years, of Emmet, deeded his I3.D00 farm to his son n enry, witn tne provision that he was to be paid $175 a vear while he lived. Uo to 1805 tho payments were kept up, but since that time, the old gentleman 6ays, no money has been paid to him. Last year the son deeded the farm to his wife who mortgaged it for $1,400.
