Kev. Augustine, pastor of the Pres
byterian church at Sandusky for the
past year, has resigned and will go to

l'ort Huron's iirt poultry show will

sive. Lots of enthusiasm is being
manifested in this affair.
F.x-sdieriff Moore, who has gi.ne back
to his grocery store in St. ( lair, was
given a reception by the citizens of
that town when he. returned.
A new lath mill has jii.-t been com
pleted at Harbor lleach or which the
citizens are rather proud. The mill
has a capacity of 'Jo. (i lath per day.
Herbert II. Davis, formerly for a
short time proprietor of the Almoiit
Herald, has been arrested for libel at
ISaldwiu where he, is publishing a
paper.
(irandma Weston, of Uiclunond, cel
ebrated her IMUh birthday Dec. Jllh.
Mm. Weston is a real daughter of the
devolution and a member of the l'ort
Huron chapter of the DAK.
Dr. ('. 11. Stockwell has been a mem
ber of the First Congregational church
choir in l'ort Huron for just forty
years and during that time there have
been only four different pastors of the
church.
The coal pile belonging to the Klcc
tric Light plant in l'ort Huron got
afire last week and all efforts to quench
the tlames failed. Thousands of dol
lars worth of coal burned up in the
open air.
- Vol. '.Y., No. 1 is at the head of an ar
ticle in last week's Almont Herald.
The present publisher has only had
charge of the piper during the past
two years, but he is giving his people
a good thing.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hicks, of Ar
mada, are believed to be the oldest
couple in southern Michigan and per
haps in the state. Mr. Hicks has just
celebrated his ninety-third birthday,
while his wife is eighty-eight. They
have lived near Armada for reventy
years.
