Hotel Almont, at Almont, is closed
to the public and is for sale.
Patrick Dunnigan, an Emraett farm
er, had two lingers taken off in a corn
husker last week.
The roller mills at Downington will
on December 31st suspend operations

Fred Whitehead, of Almont, died re
cently at the age of 47 years. He was
at one time proprietor of the Almont
hotel.
Patrick Lvnch, of Memphis, has be
gun a !?1,50() damage suit against the
Pere Marquette Hallway company for
injuries received.
A building near the city halt in Port
Huron will be found and will be used
for a place of detention for delinquents
who come before the juvenile court.

The First Presbyterian church at
Croswell, after being closed for some
time undergoing repairs and improve
ments was re opened and re-dedicated
last Sunday. Dr. Fulton, of 15ad Axe,
preached the sermon.

M. railroads have dissolved partnership

house for its business.
Harry Miller, 23 years old, stole a
lunch of a (Irand Trunk switchman,
because he was so hungry he could
hardly walk. Justice IJenedict sen
tenced the young man to f5 days in the
Detroit house of correction.
John (J. Snell, tr years old, 'of P.ad
Axe, who nine years ago accidentally
shot and killed his little daughter, has
brooded over the fact and recently
slashed his throat, attempting to com
mit suicide. He will recover.
Charles IJaer, an old and prominent
citizen of Port Huron, died last week.
His idea through life was to be con
sidered a friend to humanity. The
Port Huron hospital will always stand
as a monument to Charles Ilaer.
On Saturday morning last Fdward
Urown, of Corunna, Out., was drowned
in a row boat opposite Marysville.
Two men had come over and taken a
car to Port Huron. Coming back and
getting into their boat, Drown stood up
to remove his overcoat when 200 feet
out. The boat capsized. Drown being
drowned and Charles Lambert swim
ming to shore.
Up at Harbor Death they have a
novel manner of catching wild duck.
