Peavis' many friends will be pleased to know that she has so far recovered from her recent seveie sick ness as to be able t to drive out each day. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Peed, living northeast of Yale, entertained the M. P. Sunday School class of Pev. W. S. Ostrander in a very pleasant manner last Monday evening. One thing to be thankful for, we may be sure qf a good, heavy crop of ice for iiext summer's use. If the heat then will be as severe as the cold now, we will certainly be glad of a big supply of the cooling. Last week every day was Sunday with the exception of Saturday which was a lively day for trade in our city. In con versation with several farmers they stated it had been two weeks since they were in town. William Hale, of Yale, is spending a few days in this city with old friends and comrades. Mr. Hale is Ts years of age and is a veteran of the civil war. He is well known here. Port Huron Daily Herald. U. S. Campbell, well known in Vale having atone time held the position of Superintendent of our public schools, left Port Huron Feb. 1st for a month's stay in Cuba in the interests of the Santa Loma Co. Eld. Paton will preach in the Church of Christ (corner North and Kennefick street) next Sunday at 3 and 7 p. m. Subjects, "(Jod's Fire and Sword" and "Jesus and the Woman of Samaria." All are cordially invited to hear him. Monday evening a number of Yale young people drove to the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. (Irimes, in Speaker township, and surprised them. The evening was spent in a social way nd before leaving oysters were served. Miss Sibyl Ilisey, of Sparta, a grad uate of Olivet college, has been engaged by the school board to take up the work of music, drawing and English in our school. Almont Herald. As we previously announced our ready-prints failed to reach us in time on account of nearly all trains being held up by snow blockades. A dozen young friends of EdnaNewell surprised her on her birthday Wednes day by inviting themselves to her home for supper and the evening. They all enjoyed the fun and had a merry time. Several nice presents were left for Edna to remember them by. Edward Newell, who has been in the state of Washington for over three months looking for a location to start in business, returned to Yale the first of this week. He has built himself a dwelling house at Chehalis, Wash., a city of 7,000 inhabitants located between Olympia and Portland, about 35 miles from the coast, and as soon as he gets his business affairs here settled, which will be in about three weeks, he will move out there with his family.
