Farley over Sun day. Dr. 1 4. M. Ardiel of Avoca is very sick at his home in that town. Con sultations of doctors have been held tliis week over his condition. The weather this week has been very mild with slight snow flurries Mrs. C. Mason and daughter Edith were in Tort Huron Saturday last, Elizabeth McColl and Nila Ilolden gave a pleasant social evening to a large number of young people, at the home of James McColl., on Thursday evening last week. A majority of the teachers in our public school spent last Friday . in Port Huron attending the institute. They find these meetings instructive and very beneficial. He v. W. II. Cole, of Flint, president of the M. I conference, has been in Yale this week assisting Rev. Chas. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Winn was the scene of a social ev ening last 'Friday, w hen Grace Watt entertained a number of young peo ple at a valentine party. All had a good time. Lois Marie Kelley is the name of a pretty baby daughter born Saturday, February 1.1, 191o, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kelley. The many friends of papa and mama are show ering tht m with congratulations. After a jolly impromptu dance at the hall last Saturday afternoon a number of the young folks were in vited to the home of Isabel Menerey for supper. Edward Sheehy was taken very sud denly sick with appendicitis Monday evening. He is some easier at this writing. Camp Fire Girls met with Rernice Ilolden Wednesday evening at her home and Bpent a very pleasant and sociable time. Chas. F. Schmidt has rented Rev. Lester Clark's house on Mary street and will move into same after his auc tion sale March 6th. Epworth League spent a social even ing Wednesday at the home of Mi98 Florence Simmons. A very pleasant time was enjoyed by all. J as. McColl on Thursday was called to the bedside of his friend, W. A. Mc Kay at Windsor, Ont., who is very sick and not expected to live. The Just-A-Mere Club were enter tained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Learmont on Tuesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Roswell Green assisting. Isaac Menerey has sold his place just outside of the corporate limits of the city to Elston llullmati. Mr. Menerey will buy a house and lot in the city and with his wife take life a little easier. The steel frame for the city water tank is in place and the next in order will be the putting together or, the big steel tank which will be built on top of the frame, and then the raising of the stand pipe. The contractors have had fine, mild weather in which to do the work. Lew Zavits, a former Yale resident but now at St. Johns, this 6tate, is in the city renewing old acquaintances. Lew has a half interest in as fine a meat market as one will find in the state, equipped with all modern conve niences. He has purchased for himself a neat home and from all reports he is prospering which we are pleased to learn. Sometime during the night Monday some person or persons removed a pane ot glass from one or the basement windows in Hotel De Martin at the north end and entered the bar, stealing two dozen bottles of whiskey. It is not definitely known who the guilty ones are, but suspicion rests on certain persons and arrests are liable to be made at any moment. The Ladies' Benevolent Society of the Presbyterian church gathered at the home of Mrs.E. W.Farley on Wed nesday afternoon, twenty-live being present. Two papers were given, one on India by Mrs. J. A. Menzies, the other on Texas by Mrs. Ferm llender shot. After a pleasant social time, ice cream and cake were served. Two weeks from this date the meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. E. K. Beech er. J. B. Paisley has sold his magnifi cent bred stallion Prince Elect 40,590 by Expert Prince 2:i:$ 1-4 to William Randall of KInde. Prince Elect is a handsome black horse foaled in 1903 Individually he is a horse of grand finish and plenty of substance, with a fine disposition. We regret to see this horse leave this locality as he has some fine get around here. Jerry being a great lover of a fine horse, will no doubt invest in another one soon. Enroute from Miami, Fla., to Key West the passenger train on the East Coast R. R. was wrecked de molishing the engine and several coaches but no lives were lost and a very few persons injured. The pri vate car of Mr. John Millen on which Mrs. V. A. Lacy was traveling with the party and one Pullman escaped injury. Mrs. V. A. Lacy with Mr. and Mrs. Millen. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen son, of Duluth, Minn., left Key West Thursday morning for Havana, Cuba.
