This is considered a high honor and a line testimonial to Mr. Crandall's abil ity. Lansing was chosen for the place of the next meeting. Myron W. Mills of St. Clair county was in attendance at the meeting. Congressman Louis C. Cramton is urging government improvement of the Fort Huron water front. The Lake Shipmasters' association has endorsed his proposal which contemplates a 600 foot channel of St. Clair river at that point, as an "aid to general naviga tion," and Mr. Cramton feels greatly encouraged that this action on the part of such an influential organization of practical 6eamen will have much weight toward securing the preliminary sur vey of the project for which he intro duced a resolution in the House some time ago. At present all boats are compelled to take the course on the Cauadian side of the river, but with the proposed improvement, regulations could be in forced compelling boats go ing up the river to take the Canadian side and those going down to take the American Bide. The improvement would be of great advantage to Fort Huron. The 7th district of Michigan is really represented in Washington, and the people there, and in many places in Michigan, realize that Congressman L. C. Cramton is a man who is rapidly coming to the front in public affairs, and is "on the job" every minute. Here are a few of the places he has been invited to speak and where he will be if his work in Washington can be arranged at the time: Feb. 13th, Hillsdale, Mich., at the Lincoln Club Ranquet; Feb. 20, Croswell, at the Chandler Club Ranquet, of Sanilac county; Feb. 21, Detroit, at the Michi gan and Wolverine Fress Association Ranquet; Feb. 23, Fort Huron, at a joint meeting of the Oddfellow Lodges of that city and vicinity, at which meeting Grand Secretary Thompson and Grand Master Rogers are also to be speakers. In April, Fres. Oswald, of the National Editorial Association, has invited him to speak at Houston, Texas. In Washington lately he was toast master of the U. of M. Alumni Asso ciation of Washington. The U. of M. has the largest representation in Con gress of any University in the United States, having nine Senators and twen ty-four Representatives. Merrill ow to Detect the Alum Baking Powder "Which are the alum baking powders; how can I avoid them unless they arc named?" asks a housekeeper. Here is one way: take the can of a low priced powder in your hand and read the ingredient clause upon the back label The law requires that if the powder contains alum that fact must be there stated. If you find one of the ingredients named alum, or sul phate of aluminum, you have found an alum baling ponder. There is another and a better way. You don't have to know the names of the alum powders. Use Royal Baking Powder only; that assures you a cream of tartar powder, and the purest and most healthful baking powder beyond question.
