Charlottesville Society By M. P. STROUD 412 Oak Street; Phone 2-9216 Mrs. Mablc W. Jones of Larchmont, N. Y., was a recent visitor in the city at her home on Parrott street, to be with her son, Pvt. James H. Jones, Jr., on the re maining days of his leave before he sails for Europe. Mrs. Jones was recently the recipient of a phonograph recording of her other son’s voice from a hospital bed in .Japan, on which he discribed the nature of his wounds received in combat in Korea. He ?s Pvt. Thomas M. Jones, who visited his mother in New York and grandmother, Mrs. Dora Wells, of Charlottesville, prior to his embarkation, July 12, 1951. He was wounded September 29. Pvt. Jones also expressed on the record, his deep appre ciation and love for- his mother and grand mother for understanding companionship and love shown him throughout his child hood and youth. Both Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Wells have been wonderfu’ mothers to their children and grandchildren. Our prayers join with theirs for the safety and well being of both boys. The Interfraternal Council of this city sponsored a trip to the Art Museum in the Haley Building at the University of Virginia, Sunday, November 18. Reaves and William Smith. * * * * * * The Charlottesville Players Guild held its regular meeting at the residence of Mrs. Geneva Wright, 802 Anderson street, with Mrs. Wright and Mr. Robert Mosby serving as host and hostess. Tryouts for the forthcoming production, “Star Light, Stai; Bright,” wore held. Miss Spotts and Mr. Maxey, members of the Jackson P. Burley faculty, were welcomed into the group. Mrs. Ada Goffney, of 11th street, N.W., is visiting her son, Vassar, in Ohio for the Thanksgiving holidays. Mrs. James Johnson of South First St., is spending the Thanksgiving holidays with her son and his family in Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. Christine N. Wright, 414 Dyce St., has returned to work after two weeks ab sence. Mrs. Wright has bee nsuffering from an injured foot. Mrs. Susie Lawson Farrar is confined to L her home at 220 Fifth street, S.W. because of illness. * * * * * * Mr. Lacey Key of Fifth street, S.W., is improving. He has been ill for some time following a stroke. Mrs. Mary Jones of 311 Fifth street, C.
