President and Members of the Aberdeen Commercial Club: Gentlemen:—Your committee ap pointed for the purpose of providing a benefit entertainmen for the Shei man House, through a formal open ing of the same, report as follows: That having decided a reception ball and lunch would be the most practical method for obtaining the result desired, to-wit., the obtaining of a reasonabl-3 net sum to he pre sented to the proprietor of the Sher man House as a mark of apprecia tion on the part of our citizens. The first pay ment of $35,000 was made, but thte $15,000 payment for July was with held, and: Massingham served notttn of forfeiture ot the contract.
