When it came noised about that the
court had directed tbe sheriff to take
thp prisoner back to liirmingham for
afe keeping, a mob surrounded the

would shoot the first man that rut his

revolver. A general fusilade followed.

light on the mvfterv was develotted.

death due to poisonous morphine taken
in sugar by Mrs. Byroo for the purpose
of sweetening ber tea. and plsceU in
the sugar-bowl by parties unknown to
the jury.
