he could tell her where a letter would
reich the Buffalo Bill combination ,
wi.ich appeared at the Opera House
J on Thursday eveniog. The answer

furuithed. It waa an unuiual ques-
ttuii for a s ranger to ask , and natur
ally led to inquiries. The lady dar-
iu this interview ; seemed very much
interested , and was easy to aee from
her countenance tnat her feelings
were far mere than those of common
curiosity "Can you describe Miss

ita' in 'Tha Prairie Waifl' " the caller
asked ; "I believe she is my sister/ '
This gave ua some clue to the lady's
interest , and in compliance with our
request she stated the following story

where Mrs. 0 ; was born In 1869 , eldest

girls. Lizzie was the youngest ,
having been born in August , 1862 , in
this country. Her parents had

difficulty to Denver where a train of

as it was then known , in Wyoming
Territory. There the train camped
for dinner wilt Mr. Fletoheb'a wagon

while the balance was made up of ox
teams. They were suddenly sur
prised at midday by a band of some
three hundred Gheyehno Indians Wheat
at once proceeded in their work of
killing and capturing. Mrs. Cook ,
( hen a girl of 15 years , saw the sav-
agea strike down her mother in quick
desth , and crippled her father , fler

From that day-to this , Mrs. Conk ;
acting by the impulse ! of humanity ,
and in accordance with the dying re
quest of her father , who bre.Uhed his
List in Ohiti some five years ago , has
[ lot-severed in her efforts to find aor

i.ldiner. And she has been so suc
cessful as to believe that she is still
alive. In 1869 General Ouster wrote i

Mrs , Cook has some reasons for be

sents "The Prairie Waif , " and whose
name is down on the bills as Miss
Lizzie Fletcher , is none other than her
own sister , Lizzie Fletcher , who at
two yean of age was separated from
tier. And among them are thes * :
The names are the same , and this can
be acaounttd for from the fact at the
Lime of the capture there were two

Cook told her listei 'a full name. She
thinks it could easily hive been pre

Cobfc'a experience in some of its'
patfs. And again , .in tha fourth act

ans , appeared in some of their scalp
and war dances. Once more , Mrs.
Cook soya that she remembers that
Mr , Cody fBuffilo Bill ) was then fa
mous in that. . country aa an Indian

* With all these resemblances one
thing seems quite true , and this is , if
"Onita" is not the Lizzie Fletcher of
the massacre the character that she
represents is founded upon her his
tory. By'spreading ibis' information
western papers may be of soma atBiat-
ance in rescuing the Indian girl , who
is certainly thought to be alive. The
story is in any event one stranger
than fiction , while no attempt has
been made to go outside the bare and
the main facts in the case.
