N INTERESTING social affair today was the breakfast given Mls3 l Catherine Counties, who is playing this week at the Orphcum, by Miss Grace Lennon Conklln, organizer of the local chapter of tho " Daughters of tho Confederacy, Miss Counties Is a most enthusiastic member of this organization and Kays that she Is "a most unreconstructed little rebel and not very little." In speaking of tho society she says that the northern peoplo think that ltd purpose Is to stir up strife, but Instead It Is to bind together nil the old lovo ties and soften the feeling which at one time existed, Miss Conklln's znother and Miss Counties' mother were both born In Mississippi, and tho decorations at the breakfast were the Confederate and American flags, with potton bolls from Mississippi. While in Denvor Miss Countlss was the guest of the Daughters of the Confederacy of that city. Mrs. Dlxlo Potter Is a prominent member and jrlce president of the Denver chapter. Miss Countlss tells with a great deal of pride that at the time of Oh Bt, Louis exposition the state of Texas sent her father as tho representative from the state aa being the oldest 'confederate soldier In tho stato.
