The charge of 'J' cents for entering the grounds strik* a iHJDiilar chord, and patrons remark that this system ought to nave been e* tablished long ago AUTO"RACES Machine Contests Planned In Connection With Mitchell Racing Meet Mitchell, June 27.—In connection with the three big days' race meeting to be held in Mitchell July 13,14 and 15, the promoters of tbe meeting an planning to have at least one automo bile race each day of the races. At tbe meeting Friday evening of thosn interested the proposition of haviu some automobile races was presented and adopted. It is planned to have on tbe first day a race for earn costing $1,200 and under, the cars to be driven by the owners. On the second day, tbe ra will be for cars costing not less than |2,000. Both of these events will be comparatively short and will cover abont five miles. They will be pri marily for bringing out tbe points of the cars owned and ran by the men with moderate means. On the thirl day the race will be a free-for all event, and will likely be participated in by the expert drivers. The dis tance is as yet uudecided, but will likely l»e over fifteen miles. For this event automobile manufacturers will l»e interested in sending expert drivers to display the speed of their machines. It will be fairly easy to lay out a course around Mitchell which could be adapted for races of tois natur*.
