Miss Marie Ranass has gone to Nunda to remain for two weeks while calling on her brother, who is working a farm near that place. Leo Aigner who has been working on a farm near Madison went down to Sioux Falls today to spend a week with his relatives. Mrs. Alba Johnson returned to Sioux Falls this forenoon after spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. W. M. Beardsley. M. Hasvold is the guest for a few days of his brother, Q. L. Hasvold departed this morning for his home at Flandreau. The Degree of Honor will meet in Hexoms hall on Thursday evening at 7:30 for election of officers. Members please take notice. Miss Olive Clements arrived from Sioux City last Saturday for the purpose of spending several weeks with her friend, as Margaret Stehr. Among the Madison people who transacted business in S.oux Falls today were George Stensland of the Security State bank, Ray Millard and Mrs. L. T. Love. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hartwich of Ratnona, expect to leave on Monday, December 8, for Santa Anna, Cali fornia where the winter will be spent. Mrs. A. Dvorak returned home to Wentworth today after a few days visit in this place with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dettman who reside in the north part of town. Miss Dala Kalte who' has been as sisting in the household of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Callise for about four weeks returned home to Wentworth this forenoon. The directors of the commercial club held a meeting last evening and transacted routine business. It was decided to hold a banquet for the public on the evening of Dec. 29. Several Madison people left the city today on a trip to California. They were Mr. and Mrs. George R. Farmer, and .J. Lannon. The lat ter goes to join his wife who has been at Los Angeles for some time. Mrs. Martin Nerdahl and her two daughters, Miss Avis and Miss Ruth, made their departure today for Flan dreau. They go to meet a brother of Mr. Nerdahl's who did not ar rive In Sioux Falls yesterday as ex pected. Peter Chrlstensen came down from Oldham today for denta! work. He states that the coal shortage is being keenly felt in his vicinity. A car of coal gets into Oldham about once every two weeks and when it makes its appearance it is seised upon with great eagerness. People there have only a limited supply and are using it sparingly.
