Laughlin's Garage ruoNE UAJUACIU aiaa RES. 3*46 It is this ideal which has impelled the Company to ceaseless effort in multiplying the number of products produced from crude petroleum, each to fulfill a definite, useful service not to the few, but to humanity 1 British India.—Mahomme- dan communities In numerous centers Ill India observed a day for prayer and fasting as a protest agatnst the threatened dismemberment of Turkey and the removal of the holy places of Islam from the Ottoman caliph's con trol. In Bombay business was virtu ally at a standstill, all the principal markets belna closed. At a great meet i ing of Moslems a resolution was ndopt i ed embodying their anxiety* over tfce situation.- Utiik The Greatest Service to the Greatest Number •HUS, in seven words, is epit omized the ideals of service animating the seven men who direct the activities of the Stand ard Oil Company (Indiana). Maxi mum service is the only foundation upon which Big Business may rest securely. Only private initiative and enter prise, willing to hazard time, money, ingenuity, and effort to gain a prom ising but uncertain 'benefiit, could have developed the many products manufactured by the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) for th^sacyioe of the people..- ._ -V In the conduct of its business, the Stand ard Oil Company (Indiana) always hat recognized the four fundamental interests in all industry—capital, Ubofr Bannaggr ment, and the public^ 4: Because of this, and because it has striven to prepare every product as nearly perfect as ingenuity, integrity and earnest effort can make it, this Company has been able to approximate its ideal of the greatest 1. IK 4 AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC Owing to radical changes in present day business methods as compared with those of few years ago, we have decided to adopt methods to meet present day conditions. Manufacturers and jobbers supplying us are demanding payments of accounts every 30 days, some are demanding payments of accounts twice monthly and practically all re pair parts for automobiles are now shipped C. O. D. Also the present high cost of living has made necessary increases in salaries of men employed of approximately 100 per cent and salaried men find it necessary and naturally demand, payment of wages every week-end, also overhead expenses incidental in running a business have gone to ex tremes. In the automobile industry as in some others the demand this coming year as in the past year will greatly exceed the supply and this- coming year will greatly exceed any thing heretofore experienced and naturally everything will be at a premium and ready cash will he an asset necessary to supply the enormous demands of dealers and con sumers. Also in the elimination of considerable bookkeeping, costs of collections and the losses always incidental in handling a credit business, goods- can be sold and repairs can be made at a smaller margin of profit. Therefore, we the undersigned automobile dealers, garagemen and repair men have decided that for the best interests of our patrons and ourselves we have resolved, That, on and after JANUARY FIRST, 1920, we will do a strictly cash business. In making this a strictly cash business we wish to be partial to none and mean to antagonize son, therefore, the terms after the above date will apply to all, strictly cash. St We also take this opportunity to thank the people of Madison and vicinity for the splendid patronage extended to all of us the past year and we hope and trust that our new venture will benefit our customers as well as ourselves.
