Otfo Kohler and wife are spending
the day in Sioux Falls.
Mrs. Thomas Campbell of Flan
dreau was a business visitor in the
city last evening.
Alice Robeck, 9-year-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robeck, is
reported ill from tonsilitis.
Fred Buehler of the Dacotah Oil
company had business to transact in
Sioux Falls between trains today.
Miss June Rudd, one of the youns
lady students at the normal departed
for Cohnan today to spend the week
end with her parents.
Mrs. Jake Birran was called to
Clear Lake, this state, to assist in the
care of members of her daughter's
family who are sick.
Mrs. Anna Fosheim of Howard was
in the city last evening awaiting a
train home. She had been at Sioux
Falls doing some shopping.
Mrs. Frank Thompson and her
children have gone to Egan to call at
the home of H. H. Underwood, the
former's father, who is dangerously
ill.
Mr. and Mrs. George M. Johnson
had the pleasure of having for their
guest the first of the week Mrs.
George Gesley of Sioux Falls, a sister
of the former.
Mrs. Pope was a returning passesi
vt yesterday to her home at Arte
sian. She had just terminated a
pleasant visit a few days ago with
relatives and friends in eastern Iowa.
Mrs. George M. Johnson was a re
turning passenger this morning to her
home at Sioux. Falls. Mrs. Johnson
was
a guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. Nat
wick for a couple of days.
Howard Griswold and sister, Mrs.
W. O. Cox-, who were at Sioux Fallsi
for a week calling on their parents,
passed through the city last evening
on their return home to Wessington
Springs.
Mrs. J. B. Lentsch reached Madi
son last evening while en route to
Winfred from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Her
husband is following with a car of
farming equipment. They are to oc
cupy a farm one and one-half miles
out of Winfred.
The proprietors of the Hollister
grocery are adding some new shelving
to the front part of their store. One
length of it was being placed along
the south wall and when completed
will contain one particular line of
food.
The Rev. J. M. Runestad of Long
mont, Colorado, and his sister, Mi3S
El ma. departed this forenoon for
Mount Vernon after a pleasant visit
in Madison with their cousin, Mrs.
C. K. Solberg.
R. C. Keagy, state secretary of the
Y. M. C. A., was in town last evening
arranging a date for a county com
mittee meeting. Mr. Keagy states
that on March 5 he will meet those
who were appointed to assist in estab
lishing an association in Lake county.

Fireman Bohn of- Wessington
Springs was calling on the boys Sat
urday.
Engineer A. Meinicke was visiting
his folks in Albert Lea over Sunday.
We are glad to report Fireman
Nashum, who was dangerously ill
with the "flu" last week, as out of
danger today.
Engineer Kaisersatt is taking the
place of Regularman Foley on the
west end while the latter is on the
sick list.
Engineer A. pe Tienne was pulling
Nos. 116 and 211 while regular man
Crow was attending the safety first
meeting as committeeman.
Engineer Gere and family made
their departure Monday for Palm
Beach, Florida, to visit Mr. Gere's
parents. They expect, to Im. gone
about four weeks.
Fred Riley has been ta"k!ng the
place of Hostler Coty on the first
shift while the latter has been taking
a whirl with the "flu."
Bobbie Hunter took his father's
place on Nos. 1 and 8 for a couple of
trips last week while dad took a dost
of flu.
Engineer Farmer has been pulling
the stingen on the goat for a week
while regular man Cline was off sick.
Fireman Parker has been doubling
the branch on Nos. 211 and 116 for
the last week. Lloyd says "I like th
money but it makes a young man feel
old."
At a meeting in Hexom's hall Wed
nesday night, definite steps were tak
en toward organizing the Farmers
and Laborers' Mercantile association

has cut the ranks of the R. R. force
and engine men to a minimum. At
one time we were 14 men short. Fore
man Feldt is very grateful to the men
who doubled over and changed shifts
and went out unwell to keep the
trains moving, as he received special
commendation from Supt. Meyers fo
being able to get everything out with
out a delay with the disrupted force.
