The first case under the workmen's compensation law of this state has been before the supreme court for consideration, and Aberdeen.— The supreme court has affirmed the verdict of the cir cuit court for Brown county in favoi of the plaintiff in the case of Lowary vs. Lowary, an action for the rfecov ery of $5,000 damages alleged to have been sustained by the plaintiff in crop losses when his brother, the defendant refused t«» allow him to go onto a quarter of land, wh4ch had been leased, to harvest his crop. The plaintiff secured a verdict of $2,600. During the trial of the case it was testified that the brother owning the land threatened to shoot the other If he tried to harvest the crop. Philip.—Some effective prairie dog eradication work is being done in th)s county under farm bureau aus pices. A prairie dog squad of four men has been organized. They have an auto truck covered with canvas and a trailer in which they carry cooking equipment and food.
