On account of the storm yester
day thei-e were not many bidders at
the E. M, Arch Duroc hog sale. The
animals that were sold brought an
average price of $37.50.
A. J. Cornelyson has been under
going a period of illness for the past
two weeks. He is out on the struts
again, however, looking rather palid
but feeling a great deal better.
There is to be a big gala dance
at Huntiiner hall tonight put on by
the members of the local American
Legion post. The Oayety orchestra
has been engaged to furnish the
music.
Miss Ruby Brownmiller, who has
been a patient at tho Madison hos
pital for nearly four weeks left that
institution several days ago and is
now stopping at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Schultz.
H. D. Lewis and wife are stepping
for a few days at the home of the
former's sister, Mrs. Ira F. Blewitt,
before going on to Witchita, Kas.,
for a visit with her father, A. A.
Hyde. They arrived from Gettya
burg, Pa., several days ago.
.0. J. Bogstad, the manager of the
Home Bakery, is quite an optimistic
business man judging from the signs
he has posted on his walls. One of
them bears the inscription, "Don't
talk hard times, business is good."
The opening of the new Franklin
consolidated school will be held on
Wednesday, December 29. A strong
program is being arranged for the
celebration. Among the speakers to
be preoeet at that time are Fred
8haw, state supt of public instruc
tion, and also a representative of the
state college at Brooking*.
