Press, who has kept an itemized ac

The papers of LeBeau, the Leader
and Pioneer, have very wiseh* conclu
ded that they have not sufficient wealth
to sacrifice one-half of what they earn
by publishing notices of final proof, so
hereafter the}* will charge the legal
rate, 5. The idea that a publisher
should publish these notices for four or
five dollars, when the law allows twice
that much, is ridiculous. People might
just as well expect that the land officers
would only charge one-half of the fees
:il lowed them by law, or that the clerk
of the court, notary public or other of
ficial should charge only half price for
their labor. Every person, except pub
lishers, whose fees are regulated by
law, gets full price for his lalior and
attorneys obtain their usual fees for
services rendered, but the printer, when
it comes to him, is asked to take half
price. The Courier believes that the
law does not allow publishers too high
a rate for publishing and it seconds the
movement made by the Leader and
Pioneer and hopes to see Dakota pub
lishers demand what is
their just doe.

inly a few weeks old. it is already of
