used. Mr. Herrlck is tho present In
cumbent. He received 172 votes, the
remainder going to his opponent.
The next on tho order of business
was the nomination of a county trcas

end of the ball to the other and a

ble. It was Just midnight when the
tellers began tho count of the second
ballot and tho olllclul result was us
follews: Minto 1 10, Porter 55, Drager
0. Bozortli 70. Again no election.
Mr. Drager's name was here with
drawn.
The third ballot resulted in the fol fel fol
eowing: Minto 123. Porter 20. Bozortli 100.
Minto declared elected amid great ap
plause. Ho was pushed to the plat
form and thanked the boys.

next. Geo. W. Jones, now teaching
at Turner, was nominated by F. C.
Perrlnc. Mr. Judd seconded the nom
ination. Mr. Cliamberlln named Prof.
E. IT. Anderson. Prof. A. L. Brlggs,
Prof. II. II. Smith, Prof. D. W. Yoder
and Prof. O. II. Byland were also
nominated. Mr. Jones received 115,
Anderson 39, Brlggs 20, Smith 21,

A motion was mudo to declare Mr.
Jones tho unanimous cholco of tho
convention, but Chairman Waldo de
cided It out of order as tho other
names hud not been withdrawn.

on tho supcrintendoncy. Prof. Jones'
voto this tlmo was 170 and, of course,
ho was declared to bo tho nominee.

tematic student, giving two hours
each day to reading. His llrst vote of
Importance was for Lincoln In 1800,
and he has been a consistent Itcpubll-
