MAN'S BODY Remains of Employe of Curtis Lumber Company Found Had a Thousand Dollar Policy in the A. 0. U. W. Insurance Order (Special to The Salem Journal.) Mehamn.'Juno 17. On December 14, 1903, John McRca, a laborer employed by tho Curtis Lumber Co., whllo at tempting to run a lino across the river near Detroit, was drowned. Owing to tho strong current, nnd miscalcula tions, tho boat was capsized, and Mr. McRno Avns thrown Into tho treacher ous river. Twice ho enmo to tho sun face, and wns almost rescued, when ho sank from view, nnd was novcr seen again until today, when his badly decomposed body was found lodged on an island 25 miles from whore It entered the wntor. For weeks aftor his death tho river was searched, but no ono suspected his body had been carried that dis tance, nnd It wns only by chance that John Zwlch, a farmer, living near Mohamn, crossed to this Island, and raado tho discovery. Tho coroner wns notified, but, due to tho conclusive evldonco that death came by accident, considered It not necessary to hold an Inquest. Mr. McRca wns a momber In good standing of Lyons lodge, No. 30, A. O. U. W., nnd Independent Order of Odd Follows, No. 114, of Detroit, Ore. He carried Insuranco In tho A. O. U. W. for $1000, which wnH promptly paid his bereaved widow. Ho leaves, be- slilo an aged father and mother, n wife1 and three children, and a host of friends to mourn his death.
