DAILY OAPITAli JOURNAL, SALEM, OREGON, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1000. PAGE BIX AII I AMFTTF l mm m m I I h UNIVERSITY (By J, T. Sullivan) sf: if; 5f; 5s ; H ): $ Two largo glass cases aro being Installed In the university museum room, for thte recoption of an ex ceedlngly valuable collection of Central American fauna, which President Hoinan recently pur chased. There is probably no other such collection west of th)e Missis sippi. The collection of specimens for the museum is too great to al low proper display in the present space afforded for this purpose. Other valuable collections will be turned over to the university as soon as adequate room is furnished. The freshmen girls are becoming real aggressive, and if something is not done, the situation may become unbearable. .This morning they posted a challenge to any and all classes to engage with them in a game of basketball. Tho challenge will undoubtedly be accepted, but the matter of officials will be hard to decide, for not every one will venture in "where angels fear to tread." Lena Rivers at the Grand. Assistant Coach Bellinger is hav ing a hard time with the second football team of late. Two of his most valuable men were lost to him by graduation to the first team, an other moved away, and still another was forced to drop out because of studies. Bellinger is making a strenuous canvass of available ma terial for new candidates and last night Ralph Homan appeared in a suit and will be tried out at tackle. McAdams, right end, has been out with a broken bone in his hand, but will be back today. Not much time is left to prepare for the trip i but if it is in the bounds of possl to Vancouver on Thanksgiving day, bility, Coach Bellinger will, lring back a victory from the Washington school. o r Smnshcs All Records. As an all-round laxative tonic and health-builder no other pills can com pare with Dr. King's New Life Pills. They tone and regulate stomach, iv er and kidneys,, purify the bood, strengthen the nerves, cures consti pation, dyspepsia, biliousness, jaun dice, headache, chills and malam. Try them. 25c at J. C. Perry'. Seventy-five per cent of tho so-called- comedians- aro failures be cause of their absolute absurdity and vapid attempts to create a laugh. "Lena Rivers" has become notable through its perfectly legiti mate comedy situations, which nev er fail to please evon tho most blase auditor, hence Its unqualified suc cess with its splendid audiences ev erywhere. Tho caBt, headed by Miss Emma Bunting, whose charm ing personality and beauty seems exactly fitted to the part of Lenu, is an organization marked for Its artistic attainment, and the hit which both play and campany have made is attested by tho continuous applause .aoid laughter which, is heard at each performance. The play will be at the Grand Opera House on Saturday, and our Jocol theatre-goers will then have an op portunity, of judging personally both of the merits of the company and play. o . Lived 152 Years. Wm. Parr, England's oldest man. married the third time at 120, work ed in the fields till 132 and lived 20 years longer. People should be youth ful at 80. James Wright of Spur lock, Ky., shows how to remain young "I feel just like a 16-year-old boy," he writes, "after taking six bottles of Electric Bitters. For thirty y&nrs kidney trouble made life a burden, but the first bottle of this wonderful medicine convinced me I had found the greatest cure on earth."
