PRONOUNCE SALEM CITY WATER PURE State Bacteriologist Matson Says It Contains No Colon Bacilli. Ralph C. Matson, bacteriologist to the stat? board of health, has re turned reports on the last samples of Salem; city water sent to him by Dr. O. B. Miles, of this city, and the reports are favorable. Dr, Matson says that there are no colon bacilli in the water examined. Inasmuch a3 the state health board physician roturns a favorable report on tho water in this city, Dr. Miles suggests that absolute precau tion be continued in using the water until repeated favorable reports are had from Portland. The local health officer will continue to take samples of Salem water from timo to time and send them to the state board's office for demonstration.
