All men of this" training corps who were recommended will meet this even ing at 7:45 at the armory to make ar. ran cements for the departure for the training camp and to discuss other matters of importance. The official instructions from the war department received today order ed the men to report at the Tresidio in uniform if possible and if not in civil ians clothes with heavy marching shoes. It is estimated that at least 85 per cent of the men of Salem who were accepted, numbering about 40 will have things in shape to leave by Sunday evening. Things They Must Have. Each of the meu will be re imbursed for his traviclliiig expenses including Pullman accommodations for those who travel more than 12 hours. It is under stood that the pay will be $100 a month for the three months of training. At the cad of this period, the men will be assigned their rank and commands, de pending of course on their ability as soldiers. The training for three months will include instructions in tactical situa tions, tactical principles and tactical methods. Also actual drilling of raw troops, sanitation, trench .fighting, bomb throwring and conditions of. actual warfare. The men from this training .camp will "after" their training be ulaced in charge of the recruits to be raised by conscription. The rank of second lieu tenant pays $1700 a year and it is to this rank the officers of the reserved training corps will be assigned. Ordinance Creating Office of Fire Warden Before Council Monday An ordinance to create and estab lish the office of fire wardon in Salera will be offered at the meeting of the city council next Monday evening. The provisions of the ordinance are as fol lows: The chief of the fire department shall bo cx-off'icio fire warden and all firemen shall be ex-oficio deputy fire wardens. The duty of the fire warden is to en force the provisions relating to the pro tection or prevention of fires. - The fire waTden shall hrre the power and authority to, enter npon and all premises within the city, for the pur pose of inspecting the same regarding fire hazards. The fire warden or his deputies shall have power and authority to repair or eliminate anything which they judge a fire hazard," by serving a written or der upon the persons in charge of the premises, either in person or Dy man. The warden or his deputies are auth orized to prohibit the storage, sale and use of combustibles and explosives in such quantities as they may regard as dangerous to property or lives. They are authorized -.inspect and regulate tho installation- and mainte nance of automatic or other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers ' The exits of factories, asylums, churches, schools, theaters, halls, and all other places where people congre gate are to be inspected and regulated by the fire warden or his deputies.
